Live At Passim - General Info
A collection of live recordings of Susan Werner performing with band from two nights at Passim (May 31st & June 1st 2007) during her CD Release tour for "The Gospel Truth." The band setup includes Werner's long-time upright bass player, Greg Holt, as well as angelic harmonies and percussion from Colleen Sexton (www.colleensexton.com) and sizzling harmonica, backup vocals and percussion from Trina Hamlin (www.trinahamlin.com).
At these intimate shows at the historic Club Passim, Susan Werner performed songs spanning her last four albums, adeptly crossing the Bluegrass, Folk, Americana, Jazz and Vocalist genres. Highlights include the only existing recording of "Chicago Anyday," an intimate ballad rendition of "Barbed Wire Boys," Trina Hamlin standout harmonica solos with audience response on "Time Between Trains," audience favorites "Movie Of My Life" and "May I Suggest," as well as quite simply capturing the magic of Susan Werner with "The Bluegrass Angels" as some came to call them, on a limited engagement tour.
With special appreciation for Club Passim, celebrating 50 years presenting folk music and building community in Cambridge, Massachusetts. www.clubpassim.org
